stocker to rocker
howdie all. just picked up my first new vehicle ever and it just happens to be a mopar (yay!). '06 leftover dak qc 6spd 4.7 4x4 lsd. after all dealer bs the bottom line was 21,000. Did I do ok? I ve got mods in mind, but no dough yet. stage 1 jet, kn intake, modded exhaust, 2" leveling kit w/ 1" blocks in rear, and a set of rough treads(235 85 dunlop mud rovers).I know that these tires are skinny, but in my experience tall skinny mud tires dig exceptionally. my only question is, are they going to look stupid?I hear good things from you guys about the jet chips, but the guys on DTO (dodge trucks org) are knocking it (i think they are running rams). What gives? Finally the Y pipe on my exaust looks really restrictive. will i gain any thing if i change theY without going all the way back?
assuming you didn't get an ST, i think you did pretty good. that price might've been a bit high for an ST. i got a custom order SLT CC for about that price, but mine came in under employee pricing, too.
heck, if rumors are true and they're not making the 6sp. anymore on the Dakota's, you might've gotten one of the last new ones out there..congrats!
and, by the way, welcome to the forum!

I paid 27,000 all said and done..Only reason i got this truck is because i rolled my 03 dakota SXT 6 times off the highway..I think I paid so much cause I one of the first ones availible around here..The 2nd Gen was so much nicer..Taller,Faster,Meaner...One complaint though..BAD FRONT ENDS!!!I needed Ball joints ect at only 30,000!!!
Seeing that you want an intake and exhaust, id say wait till you get those on then buy jet stage 2 instead of 1. I don't think that doing a change to the Y-pipe will do much, I've heard headers will do something and going to dual exhaust without the Y pipe will help. When I wanted to go to dual exhausts I was told to get an X pipe because of the smog laws where I live.
They aren't making 6spd anymore in rumors?? I can't see them doing that, there's always someone who wants the manual. That'd just be another dumb move. But of course, Dodge isn't the brightest bulb in the package when it comes to ideas on the Dak lol.

yeah, i just checked again...it's listed as available on the option sheet (which is just a PDF that's who knows how old) and, when you try to build one, you can't spec out a 6 sp. V-8.
you can get a 6 sp. V-6 however, but what's the fun in that?
perhaps in 2008...

Mopar420, you paid 27,000 for your truck? It looks like from what you have been saying and your pic that you are driving a 05 Dak Ext cab ST V6 w/4x4. Back in '05 the base ST retailed for less than 20g's, and w/4x4 it was maybe 21-22. I think you may have gotten screwed bud. I bought mine for 26,600, and I have an 06 SLT Crew with HO V8, 4x4, 4 whl abs, side curtain, night runner accent, tow package, a lot more. i did get mine on employee pricing, but still. 27000 is ridiculous for any variation of an ST.

yeah, mopar420, you might've got screwed. i paid just a hair over $21,000 for my '06 SLT CC with the V-8 and 6 sp....it was during employee pricing, and the truck would've listed for $25,000 and change, if not a bit more (i forget what the sticker said).
for rookie, though, i think he got a pretty good deal...$21,000 for a QC V-8 ain't bad, like i said, perhaps a hair high for an ST (especially an '06 leftover ST) but i wouldn't be surprised if he paid that for an SLT.

I paid 26 and some change for a loaded larime, every option but 4x4 and sunroof (no need for 4x4 in Austin TX), oh and the u connect thing. Ball joints at 30K, arent you the same guy that hit a tree off roading? (may have wrong person).
