Default 2011 Durango factory alarm issue

Hi all, new to this forum. I did a quick search and didn't see any posts about this, so wondering if we're the only one with this problem.

Our 2011 Citadel alarm keeps going off randomly. It's not the old "keyfob in the pocket" deal either, as it will go off when our fobs are just sitting on the counter. We are taking it in next week, just wondering if this is a known issue or not and if there is an easy fix.

Got the Citadel also somehow the alarm is quite sensitive, 2 days ago I was at a parking lot talking to a friend not to far from my vehicle and a utility atv vehicle was passing through close proximity to my truck and the alarm went off which could be due to the muffler or engine noise. Unfortunately I didn't have my key fob on hand so I had to ran quickly inside my office to retrieve the key fob. That is the only time it happen since owning the truck.

Well the alarm went off again this morning, got a call from one of my officemates that my car alarm is on, had to go out and shut it down. Called the dealership about the issue and to find out if there's a way to dial down the sensitivity, service rep said the alarm is manage by the computer so don't know how to adjust or dial down the sensitivity...will bring the D to the dealership sometime this week.

Any other new D owners have this issue?

We took it to the dealer last week, they had it all day and informed us they had no idea what is causing it. Big shocker there. I guess they won't actually try to find a fix until more people report it as an issue, as I'm sure it's not just a couple doing it.

In unrelated news, our Durango got rear-ended this week. 4 months old and have to replace the entire back bumper/quarter panel already. Thank god we had a huge tow hitch on it, absorbed a lot of the damage.

Still have the same issue randomly going off, last week it happened and what better time to go off at around 1:00am had to rush downstairs to get to the key fob. Haven't taken it to the dealership I just told them to look at it when its time for its first lube/oil filter service.

Sorry to hear on the damage on your new D but the main thing nobody got hurt. Took my Durango on its first long trip yesterday to Twin Falls Idaho, happy to say it was solid and a joy to drive!

Thanks, yeah my husband was driving and he was just a bit sore the next day. Looks like about 2k in repairs though.

We have some bad luck with new cars I guess. My Challenger was a year old when someone ran and red light and wiped me out. 22k in repairs.

As for the alarm, funny enough it just went off 10 minutes ago and I came here to see if anyone else had reported issues with theirs. It's really starting to annoy our neighbors, and it does like to go off in the middle of the night as well.

I think I may have a possible diagnosis. If you open any doors, trunk or hood without the car being unlocked via the fob (armed state), the alarm will go off. I doubt the doors are causing it, but check to make sure the switches on the trunk lid and under the hood are not flaking out making the computer think that one or the other is being opened when it really isn't

So far for my Citadel the alarm issue have gone away....haven't had any issue of randomly going on/off for 4 weeks now! did mentioned the alarm issue with my dealership and I'm bringing the Durango for its first oil/lube maintenance. The dealership will look into it but I doubt they'll find what's causing it.

Got a scheduled appointment Wednesday morning to bring the D for this alarm issue. My service rep called me last week and told me to bring the D coz' there is a TSB that just came out, not sure if its going to be a software update or to replace the module. I will update you folks on this issue.
