RT vs Citadel
I don't know how you can say these cars are the same. looking at the specs, there are several features you just can't get on an R/T, and others that are optional. It's not a complete apples to apples comparison. If you don't want any of that, then you need to compare to a lesser model, and then your money issue may go out the door.
If you want an R/T, more power too you, but if you think you're getting a bargain priced Citadel, you aren't.

I was set on the Citadel and ready to pull the trigger at the dealership and I couldn't get the price where I wanted so I went out to a second lot and saw a band new White R/T, climbed inside and was sold on it. Then took it for a test drive and loved the way it was a little sportier to drive.
Based on the cost savings I am so glad I went with the R/T. Mine came loaded with options (sunroof, leather, 730N Nav Computer, Tow package) so it wasn't as cheap as some other R/Ts but man does this thing look and drive great.
I don't think you can really go wrong with either one but I am glad I saved the $5K and got what I think was a better option for me. The ONLY thing I miss is the ventilated seats that the Citadel has...but that isn't worth $5K to me.

Hey everybody!
Glad I found the forum here. I am an owner of a 2000 DD SLT looking to get into the third gen with either the RT or the Citadel. I am a bit conflicted on which to purchase and was hoping that if I provided some insight to my situation some of you could give me some feedback that may help in my decision making?
Here goes:
1. I will be driving the vehicle about 50 miles per day, all on the highway (which is why I originally was leaning more towards the RT)
2. I will occassionally like to drive my new Durango with the family on the beach (would there be a clearence issue since the RT is a little lower than the Citadel?)
3. I will get the HEMI AWD version of whichever model I select.
4. I started to think that spending a little more to get the fully loaded Citadel would make more sense than getting the RT (I figure same engine and I can probably live without the leveling sport tuned suspension and lowered ride height...but damn I like the monochrome look)
So, that being said, any personal narrative or feedback you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jason

I prefer the look of the R/T, mostly because I'm not a big fan of all that chrome. However, I also like the lowered stance of the R/T. There are 2 things the Citadel has that I would have liked to gotten on my R/T.......the ventilated seats and roof rack. I have heated seats, but think ventilated would be pretty nice since I live in Texas.
Almost forgot..........
@Jaymacdf......R/T & Citadel are both available with all wheel drive....which should do fine on a beach. Neither model offers anything in 'driveline options' that you can't get on the other.

Agree. My wife loves our new Citadel. I think the R/T gets a different axle ratio as well. Either is a nice vehicle. Different strokes.
