GAS MILEAGE ??? What are you getting?

Final update:
I just got back from Houston. It was 289.7 miles. I filled up before I left and topped off with 14.07 gallons when I got here. The EVIC showed 23mpg, by hand it was 20.59mpg.
Driving was 65-80mph, but mostly in the 73-74mph range. No wind to speak of, head or tail. That is better than the 20 on the sticker, so I'm pretty happy.
That is real world driving...not eco-geeking it too much.

Have an 05 Durango Hemi. When I first got it I couldn't get over 18 MPG highway. I put a K/N cold air in and now regulary get 22MPG at 75-80 MPH 24 at 65 with 15-17 city. I'm pretty happy with that. I have the 3;55 diffs. I'm starting to tow a 7500 lb travel trailer (loaded) and will switch to 3:92.

It's not that I don't want to believe your claim....but if anyone could get a 20%+ boost in mpg just by putting in a K/N air intake, considering the imense pressure of CAFE standards on manufacturers today, every car coming off the assembly line would already have one of these installed.

and realized he is in the 3rd Gen Durango forum talking of a 2005 and that K/N is paying him $50 a post.
The Hemi and Pentastar use speed-density sensors which estimate the air coming in based on other parameters, not MAF sensors which measures the actual air. Therefore K/N filters will do nothing for the engine since the ECU isn't going to change its fuel/air mixture based on a new air filter. In fact it may worsen fuel economy as the ECU was already optimized for stock.

Only around 600 miles so far.
In town, taking it easy, not being heavy footed, average 15-16.
In town, if I really really baby it (last one to get up to speed after the light turns green), I was averaging 17-18.
In town heavily depends on how much time you stay stopped. Does V8 cylinder deactivation kick in when stopped and idling?
Just took a 100 mile trip. With cruise around 70-75, avg'd 22.7.

Just got the 2012 Crew AWD V-6 with the 20" rims. My wife drives it 95% moderate city driving and we're only getting around 13.5mpg!! wtf?? It only has around 500 total miles on it. I used to get better mileage out of our 06 Durango AWD Hemi. Am I the only one getting this horrible of mileage?
I just spoke to the dealer and their response was it could be due to 2 things. First, that it's not broken in yet until about 4,000 miles. Second, the winter gas mixture causes less fuel efficiency.
Does any of this make sense?
