Default What name brand and temperature for 2011 durango HID?

Hey guys,

I am trying to decide what temp HID's I want (6000K or 8000K). What are you guys using? Also i understand the brand name means alot. Any recommendations? If you dont DIY, what is a good/average price to pay an installer???

Has anyone seen the lighting strips (audi a8) lights on a D? Thinking about upgrading

Not much difference from 6-8k, both are good visibility ranges and should be quite bright. 8k might be a lil' bluer or purple depending on manufacturer but not too noticeable. I ran two pairs of 6k and the last I had were 8k. All were exceptional. Over 8k might look deeper aesthetically but visibility suffers. Does differ with brand so pick a good set. I went with velocitygetter.com for all and was really happy with all. Never had any issues and they lasted for years.

LED strips are "over rated" IMO. Everyone from Audi's to 83' honda civics and everything in between have them. I see Kia Sportages with them for goodness sake! Simple and clean looks the best sometimes. Create a new trend not out yet...... (That's if we're talking the same thing since you mentioned A8. Not sure if its just the running lights or they are LED low beams like the new Porsche. Those are super and cool and functional!)

I like the morimoto ballast's/bulbs sold by retrofit source. They fill the void between chinacrap and oem hid ballast/bulbs. Ballasts are measured on how fast they warm up, how waterproof they are. I can attest for morimoto quality over the china stuff and I have no flickering. The morimoto pnp wiring is also high quality, and the relays are pretty cool. Morimotos are alittle pricey vs other aftermarket solutions, but if you want something really cheap, I recommend the Xentec ballasts, I have used those in the past durango and had great success with them also, they were $10 per ballast on ebay. May I advise going with 4300k or 5000k temps, anything above that you will start to loose lumens. check out hidplanet.com if you want to learn more about hid's.

You cna install them yourself, they are faily simple. I installed mine myself. before I decided to install myself, I called couple of places and they were gonna charge me $150 - $200.

I added tru 6000K HID kit on headlights and LED fog lights.

Had issues with flickering but they were resolved once I installed capistors.

I ordered Xentec 8000K kit and to me it was little bluish, I re-ordered 6000K, ulta white kit from iJDMtoy.com and that looks perfect. They are brighter than 8000k.

Actually it did need capicators, I added them last week and the flickering is gone. Thanks for your feedback.

Default Headlight angle

I just replaced mine with a DDM HID kit. I do have a littel flickering. My wife followed me home the other day and could not notice while driving only in the garage when the lights are shining on the wall.

My question is; does anyone else's headlights point sharply down to the ground? There is very little coverage out in front. Is this normal for 3rd generation durango?

thank you

Default Angled lights??

Not sure why your lights are pointing down. Might want to check if the bulb is totally locked into place. I found the notches on the HID bulbs to be a little bit bigger and wider then the stock OEM bulbs. Once everything was locked in connected and the capacitors hooked up, all was very bright and flicker free. I have 6000k HID's (Heads and Fogs)..
