I am also interested to know where the stock amp is located and what type of signal is feeding it. Digital/Analog? Is it a hot enough signal to feed an aftermarket amp or do you need a processor to install aftermarket amps?

thanks guys,
B

Default Amp Location

The high-powered 12-channel, 506-watt amplifier is located on the drivers side where the third row is located.

Analog out of the amp.

When i installed my amp (running a 4 channel, 2 channels for the front components, and the rear channel bridged to the aftermarket 12" woofer i have) I grabbed the signal on the output side of the amp. For the fronts i used the signal going to the 6x9 in the front door (this is a full range signal) and the sub output for my rear/sub input to the aftermarket amp.

I also mounted my amp in the same location as the previous poster, but i built a custom fiberglass/wood box to go where the 3rd row seats would be (i have a heat so no 3d row in mine). Mine is stalth, no boxes for anybody see, and i have all cargo area still.

I found the amp is on the drivers side just behind the little compartment where the flash light is.

You have to pull off the cover off the storage compartment and remove the compartment that encases the alpine woofer.

There are 4 screws. 2 under the fancy plastic that has the 2 pieces of brushed aluminum on them and 2 where the jack is. There is also a piece that is wired on the that panel that has to screws attaching it to it. Once the plastic piece is removed you can see the wires/plugs going into the factory amp on the driver side rear corner.

Thanks for the insight? I had found the two screws by the jack but not the others under the decorative skid guards.

Did you pull of the side panel where the amp is mounted? If so, how much room is there behind it? Enough to mount another amp?

thanks again for the info!

Has anyone tried swapping out the 8" subwoofer in the factory enclosure with a slim 8" subwoofer?

I might give it a shot next week... need to see about my funds, and also want to pull the subwoofer to measure the depth before I order, but am thinking sws-8 but might try something less expensive first... I am running some sony 12" sub with a kicker 1000.1dx and it hits really hard for a $50 sub with enclosure! I just really dont like the cargo space it takes up, I like th estealth look

I removed the decorative skin guard and there should be to nuts, one on each side. After you remove all 4 pull the plastic piece out but be careful because there is a wire attached to a piece on the bottom of it that can be removed by taking the 2 screws out.

I did not pull the side panel out. You can pull the little plastic piece out. Thats also where you get to your gas tank if the door doesnt open.

The amp is really small. It is about 7 by 5 inches. Not much room. Be careful what you pull on or you will find your vehicle will not start.
