2011 R/T Heated Seat Problem
2011 Durango R/T with 1600 miles. I noticed while driving it last weekend (wife's vehicle so I only drive it occasionally) that the heated seat on the drivers side turned off after about 10 minutes. I turned it back on, and it immediately turns itself back off. I tried this 5 or 6 times with the same result. The passenger side was on the entire trip without turning off. I stopped and turned the vehicle off, and the heated seat worked fine the rest of the trip.
Fast forward a week. We are in the D last night, and I asked my wife why she's not warming her buns, and she is surprised the seat is not on. Press the button to turn it on, and it immediately turns itself off. Try a bunch of times with the same result. She said it had been working fine all day, but now it would not work. I have her pull off the side of the road and "reboot" the vehicle again, and voila, it works fine again.
I know it under warranty and will take it to the dealer, but intermittent problems are difficult for them (or anyone) to diagnose. Just looking to see if anyone here has experienced this phenomenon.
Thanks guys

I just encountered the same exact problem last night except it is the rear passenger seat on drivers side. My daughter attempted to turn on heated seat and it went off just as yours did. This is the first time anyone attempted to use the butt warmer so it could have been defective all along. Calling dealer for appointment on Monday I will let you know the outcome.
I did search, found a post by Kent Layton that was never answered from 10/25. I thought I would start a new thread to see if there are any new developments from Kent or others.
I will post the questions again, has anyone (other than Kent Layton) experienced this? If so, was the dealer able to duplicate it and fix it?
Thanks in advance.
no shark, this is not (for the most part) one of those forums, please dont take it personally.
honestly i dont think there is going to be any new information unless someone else had the problem and solved it, and unfortunately most people dont post back what the solution was in the end.

Just came back from dealer for repair of rear heated seat. According to dealer they had to order the seat heating element which was bad. Part on order.

I have been driving it all week trying to replicate the problem. The plan was to have the fault happen to me while I am near the dealer, then drive it to them and let them evaluate without turning the car off. Unfortunately, my wife wants her hemi back, so my troubleshooting plan has backfired.
Vehicle at dealer today for install of new heating element pad in rear seat. I went to pick vehicle up and heater still would not remain on. Brought service rep out and showed him, he then asked if they could keep the vehicle for awhile longer. It's now 5pm the vehicle has been there since 8am still no call. I call dealer and they tell me they have to order a new seat cushion which of course is on back order and the seat will not be put back together until tomorrow. Pissed me off now I have no vehicle till tomorrow.
