Oh sucks to be in Florida, that makes no sense. If your stopped at a safe distance (300') and a tractor trailer rear ends you and pushes you into the car in front of you, you are ticketed? Furthermore the safe distance of 300' is given to allow a vehicle to safely stop behind a vehicle that stops suddenly, but its not gonna be expected that the 300' distance is maintained between reaction and brake time once the vehicle is stopped.
Awww man, that sux. +1 on the good news that everyone was okay.
As you explained, your damage looks mainly cosmetic but costly in the plastics. They will likely replace the fascias instead of repairing them (which is good.) Sheet metal is where we hate to see the bends and you seem to have avoided that. The Mustang wasn't so lucky.
If you don't mind sharing, who are the insurance companies and what State?

They listed it as being replaced, but they left off the exhaust, Forward Collision Warning sensor, and a ton of other stuff. The lady said, oh they will catch that stuff when they take stuff off. They better! The estimate seems way light to me, they left out the $$$$ stuff.
I've got USAA too. They were good about all the add-ons found by the shop post-estimate.

That is good to hear, I just got a call from the body shop, they wanted to confirm that it did have the forward collision warning system because the radar sensor is $1,987.00!!! The hitch took it out, it is dun!

As others had said, it does suck that you were in the accident and the fact that you got a ticket for something that clearly isn't your fault. Lets just hope that the people that do the repairs do a good job and that you will be happy with the finished product.
