We've been looking for about a year now and finally pulled the trigger on a new Durango RT. Went with the Stone white/blk interior.

Still trying to figure out all the functions.

The car isn't home a day yet and the mod bug hit me so I spent about a half hour this morning swapping out those wimpy fog light bulbs for a set of 5000K HIDs. How could I let the wife drive around with plan jane fogs when her husband distributes auto lighting....Next step I might install a 15w reverse HID kit, I'm wondering how it will work with the backup camera.

Here are some pics taken on my iphone. Makes the lights look slightly yellow but they're real white.

Congrats on your purchase.

I think HID reverse lights sound like a horrible idea. Real HID takes a while to get to full brightness, which is why they don't use them in high beams. Do you sit there to let them get bright before backing up? I don't want to have to wait to back up. Brighter bulbs or LED is a much more appropriate product for instant light.

Thank you. You 100% correct that typical HIDs take an average of 20-30sec to get to full brightness. Back up HID kits are not your average ballasts/bulbs and are at full lumens within 5 secs. Seems like a long time but I have them in my Cts-V and have never had a time where I had to wait because I couldn't see or they weren't to full brightness yet.

I'm not trying to create a huge debate but my concern is if it will glare out the camera because of being so bright. Actual warm up time isn't an issue although I understand your point. If you time your OEM headlights you'll see it's well below 20secs warm up time. I'll post a video of them on my Cts-V when I have a chance.

On a side note, is there a company that makes an underdrive pulley for these things? Not really looking for a major power boost rather than MPGs.

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted on the reverse HIDs but give me until the weekend as work ties me up during the week.

I understand there's rules to promote or advertise on forums and that isn't my intent with this post. I distribute HIDs, if you would like more info I would be glad to share them just send me a pm. Again I'm not looking to advertise myself, just simply sharing my love for a bad azz grocery getter and my mod bug....

What CAI do you guys recommend, increase in MPG's? The Volant seems like a nice fit. Recommended venders? Thank again.

I thought the Volant looked best... found it at Newlevelmotorsports.com for $244 and change shipped, theres free shipping and a $20 coupon off orders of $250 or more. Couldn't pass it up!!

I have another question for you guys. When I picked up the car I asked the dealer where the trunk cover was (that shutter like thingy that goes from the seats to the back of the car) and they told me it's an accessory or optional. So now every time I open the trunk I can't see how they wouldn't have it from factory with that. Can someone shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance.

John

I am pretty sure that it was a factory standard, not an option. Keep pushing the issue. I can't find it listed on my window sticker so it may have been included in one of the packages.
