Default Airaid Synthamax Cold Air Dam Intake System on a V6

I just installed a Airaid SynthaMax Cold Air Dam Intake System in my 2012 Durango SXT yesterday. Right after I installed it I took it for a ride and you can definitely feel a difference. It seems to have a bit more power and you can feel that there is no longer any restriction of airflow holding it back. I drove it to work today on the parkway and it performed real nice. I did notice when stopping it gives a faint little whistle. Its annoying right now but that's because I had the radio off to hear the new intake. Once the radio is on, it should no longer be an issue.

On the box it says increases gas mileage but to be honest since putting it in I notice that I'm seeing the the little ECO light flashing a bit less than usual while cruising. Its only been 1 day so I wont know the true mileage difference for a bit. Ill give an update in a few weeks as to whether or not it increases gas mileage.

I will try and take some pics tomorrow.

Just an FYI to anyone interested in getting one of these. If you use the coupon code "VISA" at advanceautoparts now its less than $150 including tax and shipping. A lot cheaper than Ive seen anywhere else.

Default Update

So I got to drive my Durango a bit with the new intake. It seems to perform a bit better on the highway but I got to do some city driving with it the past two days and I have to say it seems to have lost a lot of low end torque. Call me crazy but I'm actually putting the original intake back on. It seemed to drive better with it. I don't think its a great tradeoff to have more high end power at a loss of low end which is where I think this engine can use some help to begin with. Maybe this intake would be better with the Hemi.

It's pretty common to lose a little low end torque going with a open filter element... At least that's what I've read/heard through the years!

This comes from Mopar, it looks like its a dry style element air filter cone. I was looking into maybe getting a panel filter myself, but thought it may be interesting to those of you that have the 5.7 Hemi.

I prefer the sealed airbox design of the volant over this design personally!

This one seals to the hood I believe.

I have an AirAid on my R/T. It does seal to the hood. Believe it or not, I was seeing an average of about 15.7 to 16mpg average (highway/local combined). I am now seeing 17.5 to 18mpg. Now, some of it may be due to getting more broken in (have just over 7K miles on it now) but I have to believe that can't account for all of it. The throttle response is also much better. I like it so far...
