Default Durango r/t performance specs

Hey guys, long time ram owner here, looking at possibly trading in or just buying a new Durango r/t and I have a few questions I'm hoping you guys can clear up for me.

First off, other than the hemi and sport tuned suspension, what makes the rt an rt? Is there any other performance modifications done to it? Appearance packages? I know the ram rt had a looser converter and 4.10 gears, does it come with anything similar?

I know they have the pcm on lock down right now, so no tuning is available, but is there a way to turn off the mds function or does it no longer come with the mds?

What kind of mpg is it getting city/hwy? My ram currently gets 14 city and 18 hwy so as long as it is similar ill be fine.

Has anyone had it down the track? If so what times is it getting 1/4 & 0-60?

What rear end and gear ratio does it have?

Other than the tuner, are headers available? Anyone put in a mild cam or anything?

Figure I know what I want out of it, and if it is not already where I want it it will atleast be a good starting point. Specially if I do in fact trade in my ram for it. Let me know guys. Thanks.

Haven't done any testing but a 2011 4 door Ram 1500 they gave me as a loaner would kick the chit out of my Durango RT on the bottom end. My guess is the Ram is a bit lighter and must have lower gearing. Throttle response is very laggy - likely due to the tranny and being all wheel drive.

MPG's after 10 months, I am seeing around 14 city and 20 hwy.

Wonder if re-gearing and tossing on a ported throttle body would pep it up a bit. Know if either of those mods are available

R/T can be had with AWD if you order one; I haven't seen dealers order them that way for sale on their own, but there could be some out there.

U can get awd or rwd as far as I know, bbk offers a larger throttle body for the r/t.

Truckin,

Check out the link below to compare the R/T's to the other model options.

Only thing different is the sport suspension, Other D's can be had with a Hemi. I'm assuming you've seen one and know there is somewhat of a ground effects kit on it, it is monochromatic, it does not come with roof rails, the interior leather is different and has R/T logo's embroidered on the seats. 3.60 gears(pretty sure all Hemi's are the same).

Not yet

your MPG's may go up to 20 on the hwy but that's about it.

Car & Driver got 7.4 sec 0-60

3.60

Not to my knowledge, mainly exhausts and intakes around here.
My 09 Ram I traded in for it would smack it around in a drag race. Waiting on Diablo to crack the code to get it at least back to where the truck was. The handling is amazing for such a heavy SUV and that put's plenty of smiles on my face! Don't miss my Ram at all.

Damn, that's over 3 seconds slower 0-60 than my truck. Ouch. Was hoping it be a little quicker than that.

The '11+ Durangos with the 5.7 all have 3.46:1 diff gearing R/T included.
