3.6 Pentastar misfiring
#82
sorry, I didn't see this sooner. Yeah, we heard the tick, loss of a little power, which I was trying to figure out why, then the CEL. The CEL turned off the day I was driving it to the dealer lol.
#6 Cylinder and it had a 60% loss of compression. They changed the coil wire ad plug but the code still came up.

Hello everyone. I have a 2012 Durango 3.6 I bought used in Dec 2013 with 22k on it. Have been getting an intermittent CEL between the 25,000 and 30000 mile mark on the odo. Thought it was the gas cap initially. Recently though, it has started idling rough and the CEL has been staying on. Got my oil changed on Saturday, and they said there was a TSB and reflashed the ESU. It ran better than before, but about 6 restarts and 6 hours later, the CEL came back on and you could feel the misfire. The rough idle must've been covering up the misfire before the flash. Took it back in this morning. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a war with Chrysler.

I will add in our recent experience with our 2011 Durango for research sake in case anyone else looks this up and to notate the dealer's response.
We bought our Durango with the 3.6L and 2WD and about 35K miles about 3 months ago. It was a previous rental in Hawaii (I know, but we got an extended warranty bumper to bumper for 100k miles for almost free).
After a couple of weeks, we got the loping idle at stoplights. Wife said that twice, she would hit the gas to leave a stoplight and the car would almost die. Asked about it at the first oil change and got "The low idle is normal".
After two months, check engine light came on and went off one or two days later, which I attributed to a loose gas cap. Never had time to check it. Two weeks after that, check engine light again. This time I pulled it from the car by prying out the Stop/Start button and doing the key dance. P0306
Dealer has it now while I drive my loaner from the dealer (2014 Toyota Avalon, LOL).
Also brought up to the dealer the other 'minor' issues I brushed off as unimportant (Horn works intermittently, key fob sometimes will not open door, speakers in stereo sometimes go out intermittently, tweeters, sub). Was going to get these looked at during the brake booster recall. Come to find out there is an issue with the TIPM, and these are some of the symptoms.
I will post more once the dealer comes back with their suggested fix.

To add, I just saw the other symptoms listed in the previous posts.
Fuel economy was around 21mpg prior to symptoms. As the check engine light came on, that dropped down to 17mpg.
There was a ticking sound at idle, and I could hear it during acceleration as well, like a pinging sound to the engine during acceleration.
