FIRST 2011+ with a custom hood!
no problem bro....everyones got different taste. Just tying to find an option since I doubt anyone EVER makes a hood for the durango. We had a hard time getting hoods made for the wk grand cherokee and thye sold a ton more of those than dodge will ever sell of the durango. Especially now since the durango is being canned in 2015....which is silly!
did a pseudo test fit today by laying the hood on some mf towels. Its gonna be some work. I will also have to mod the hood where it meets the fender up next to the windshield. On Wed. next week...my body shop is gonna help me install it to mark what needs done. I may just have them pull the top skin off and attach it to the durango hood as a last resort. I also have black ops who can work something up for me if needed.
yes.....sending the hood to Chad at Black ops autoworks along with a used durango hood Ive procured. Hes gonna mate the two together, pull a mold and start producing them in fiberglass for us! It needed major structural changes to fit a durango....so i figure Ill take a hit for the community. Ive sunk $583 for the hood, $140 shipping, $75 for boxing and pallet and now $184 to send to mass and $245 for a durango hood. Im in too deep to give up now.....LOL
I have right at $1000 in procured, delivered, painted and installed costs on my hood and it was already a hood on the market for sale. So rest assured you are in the ball park with all of us. Kudos on the master plan and the overall efforts!
When the shop is doing the workings, have them close-channel the airflow on the underside to make the intake ports actually work and have them build in heat exchanger vents into the back trailing edge. Also, make sure they reinforce the hinge holes with inlay metal under the fiberglass to support the flex and stress the hood goes through when opening, etc. That way the final product compares with the top end hoods like mine that are on the market in terms of features and benefits.
