I have a new 2012 Citadel and cannot get the forward collision warning to trigger. It is turned on in the EVIC and set to "far". Despite close calls and trying to set it off - nothing. Ironically, today it went off on an open road with no traffic. The dealer offers no help...
Can anyone with a FCW let me know how easy it is to set off? Or, any ideas why it doesn't activate.
Thanks

Just out of curiosity, does your adaptive cruise control work. Last year in my 2011 Durango citadel, I ended having issues with both and the dealer put in a new sensor for us under warranty.
Yes, the Adaptive Cruise Control works as designed, slowing down when it "sees" a vehicle in front. Has your FCW ever alerted?

East Coast,
I can't add much other than to tell you, on our new citadel (had her less than two weeks) I haven't heard the FCW go off either. It is set to on and far like yours and like yours my adaptive cruise works fine. I have been trying to find out how to test it, but have come up empty. I'll be following this thread...
Thanks,
Dave
Mine works, but it doesn't work at low speeds or while braking. It sounds when you're fast approaching a stopped/slow vehicle and you're not braking. The purpose of it is to tell you to brake, so if you're already braking (even a panic stop behind another car), it's not gonna tell you to brake.
Mine went off when going over train tracks a couple times.

+1 Mine has gone off a couple times, but each time I hit the brakes as the warning came on telling me to brake. Each time it was when someone in front of me stopped suddenly. Does anyone know if the warning just tells you to brake or does it apply the brakes automatically too?Originally Posted by DJ Hellfire

I think it just warns you from what I recall. I've had the Durango 8+ months and have only heard it 4 times I think. Twice was on twisty roads that I was hitting corners fairly fast, the others were people braking in front of me while I was still driving at normal speed. I've never changed my settings on it.

I can't speak for the 2011-2013 models, but the 2014 model will apply braking if you don't start to brake yourself. It will also provide added braking when you brake. The common thread among all front end collisions is that people are really only braking about half of what they need to be. The system corrects that by providing the added braking power by itself in an effort to get you stopped quicker.Originally Posted by St.Char
