Just ordered the new iphone5 today, also ordered the 30pin adapter that will fit on the phone so it will be immediately adaptable to existing iphone devices.

 

Not exactly immediate. The adapter doesn't ship until October and the phone arrives Friday.

There is also some question whether it will work, even with the adapter on some vehicles. Everything is going bluetooth anyway.

as of now the iPhone 5 is going to cause alot of problems in the 12V industry.
There is NO analog output in the 9pin connector. Your other connector you purchased should work for music but not sure how videos are going to be transferred at this point.

I'm surprised that apple didn't recognize this before changing out the existing port, or maybe they did, either way, I don't want a phone that I can't use universally with all of my apple integrated devices, so I cancelled my IPhone5 order and may go with the IPhone4s, which is $100.00 cheaper and without all the B/S issues. The adapter for the 5 was $30.00

I'm wondering the same thing actually as I refuse to use Apple products (just don't work for my needs).

It's hard to tell from Coastal's site as there's way too much content on each page - but are there any other major features that the 550 has and V5 doesn't?

Unless you have an Iphone or apple product such as Ipod etc., I would get the V5, as the benefit of the CHR550 is the cable for direct apple device integration.
