The treadwear rating for the Kumho is 500. I don't think their 500 is the same as others. The treadwear rating on the Contis is 420.
I have Bridgestone Pole Position SO3's with a treadwear rating of 220 that have lasted longer then 12k-18k. The SO3's are a sticky tire.
There are other options that will wear better than the OEM.

FYI a snow tire has a treadwear rating of 180.

Treadwear is MUCh less accurate across different brands. It is most accurate when comparing tires from the same manufacturer.

If you live anywhere near the DC area, go to Radial Tire in Silver Spring. I've been a customer of theirs for many years, and they are well known as the best (and independent) tire shop around. They also sponsor many of the local racing clubs. They will recommend something in your price range to meet your requirements and you won't go wrong. It's always busy, but that's because once people go there they keep going back.

I appreciate it but I am about 3 hours from DC. If I cannot find anything local worthwhile I will definitely give them a call and make the trek down there.

Thank for recommending that shop . I live right near there in Bethesda and have been looking for a good shop. I used Merchant Tire recently and was severely dissatisfied when I got some aftermarket tires put on about a month ago. I had a truly awful experience, it wasalmost laughable. Thanks again.

I have 11k on my 2011 RT, and two of my tires are down to 3-4/32. Will need to replace before winter. The dealership said this is normal because this is a "performance vehicle". they also claim it is from spinning the tires...even though it is AWD and can not spin the tires. They checked alignment, and said it was fine...then they told me I am SOL and I should take it up with Kumho directly.

When I lived in the mid-west for a while I went to a Merchant Tire once. Afterwards I started to hear a strange rattle. I popped a wheel cover off (this was a long time ago ;-) and found two lug nuts laying in the wheel cover and a third already backing off. One of the things Radial (and to be fair, most good shops) does is hand thread your lugs.

I could swear that Dodge is paying these tire companies to make them their tires specifically to not last as long because the average driver is just going to keep buying their tires from the dealer.

I hate to think that...but I can't disagree with you.
