Default Stock Tires?

I have a 2011 D Heat with stock tires and as the dealer is in the shop they informed me that with 28k on it I need to get new tires. This just seems outrageous. Anyone else have terrible mileage on their tires?

If you are referring to the Kumho Solus shi!tty tires that came on our trucks, that's about right. They are crap. I got the Continental 3 season tires on my D, but I only had 800 miles on them when they went away. I like my Blizzaks for the winter and the BFgoodrich g-force T/A's for summer.

You need tangible measurements to make the right call. How many 32nds is your tread measuring at on the inner/center/outer tread on each tire? If you're at 2/32 you're barely legal... if you're below, you're lethal. Also, I wouldn't buy tires at a dealer because there is a ton of mark up.

I have the stock Khumo tires on my R/T and wont even hit 19K miles with them. No stock tire is going to last you much.

Dont buy tires from the dealer though....

I have the Goodyear OEM tires, they have 16K on them and look like new. Khumo's happen to be cheap, crummy tires.

I agree, don't buy tires from the dealer, you can get much cheaper elsewhere.

15k miles on the Conti's and I just noticed yesterday I need new tires. I might have 3/32's left. That's cool though, I said I was waiting till I needed tires to get new wheels.

Wow, did Chrysler switch tires for 2012? My Crew came with Michelin Lattitudes ... which have a 6yr/55,000 mile treadlife warranty on them.

In their defense I don't think the Conti's suck. They are very sticky which lead to their low tread wear rating. It just depends on what you want, a sticky tire or a long lasting one.
