Default Extended Warranty on '12 Durango

I thought there was a thread about this a while back but Ic at' find it (Mods, please feel free to merge this if there is one).

I have a 2012 Durango that is now 13 months old - Its also got 26,000 miles on it so I'm looking into Extended Warranties. I have the prices from my dealership and from the Dodge website but I know theres a few aftermarket places that offer genuine Chrysler/Dodge warranties and deep discounts, one being chryslerwarrantys.com. The prices there are still a little more expensive than what I remember - I recall searching when I first got the truck). Does anyone have experience with this place or can recommend another? What should I expect to pay? I'm looking to do 5 or 6 year, 100,000 miles.

Thanks in advance!!

If it was me... i would look into the unlimited warranty. that way time and milage are nothing..

if you go to your dealer you can negotiate on them. also use the chrysler warranties .com as a "tool" if you need to.

Do the unlimited due to your mileage for sure.

Hls,

Thanks in advance!!
While I cannot recommend one purchase location over another I would just suggest the following.

If you are going to buy the unlimited plan that's great but if not, do not over buy. I see it all the time. Customer purchases a 6 year 100k plan and goes over 100k in 4 years or less. Don't pay for something you will not be able to use. I understand that you may think you will drive less in the future so you add an extra year on, that is fine. But if you are planning on driving the same amount of mileage as the 1st year you have owned the vehicle, then paying for for just one extra year will probably cost you $200-$300 more. This is money that will be thrown away as the contract will be expired before you even get to the additional years.

Also, Chrysler Service Contracts has changed their name to Mopar Vehicle Protection Plans so you may want to include that in your internet search.

For my Ram 2500 used the Ziegler Automotive Group. Official factory plans and the price was good.
For the 2011 Durango my dealer matched the best Internet price I found--$50 under cost. Did the Maximum, Lifetime, Unlimited mileage $100 deduct. Best internet price I found was from a dealer in Iowa, can't remember the name.
Too much electronics onboard to go without a plan.

While I recommend the Maximum Care Plan, I would strongly suggest that whatever plan you choose that you get the $100 deductible. If you price out all 3 different deductibles ($0,$50,$100) on whatever plan you choose, you will find the $100 makes the most sense. For instance, you may pay an extra $500 for a plan with a $50 deductible as opposed to the plan with a $100 deductible. This mean that you would have to use the contract more than 10 times to recoup the extra money you paid to lower the deductible by $50. Same goes for the $0 deductible compared to the $100.

I also have a 2012 R/T and am interested in what people are paying. Please show price and name of dealer if you have an extended warranty.

Absolutely correct re the deduct. I figured out I would have to use the plan 12 times to make the $50 vs $100 payoff.
My Service Rep agreed. DO get the Max Care. He said he'd often heard "I wish I had the Max" when something wasn't covered.
