Whew, finally figured out the pictures. Hope this helps. As for hitch mounted boxes, there have been some on this forum with posted pictures. There have been no reports of heat issues from the exhaust.....

Great pics, thanks!!! That looks very nice on the Durango. Very helpful in understanding the placement and fit. I already have a Thule cargo bag, the kind that would sit directly on the roof in between the racks. Looks like if I go this route, I will ditch that and get the cargo box like yours, as I wouldn't want the bag sitting on the sunroof.

Maybe i'll do both the roof box and the hitch box. Thanks for the feedback on both.

By the way, I noticed your mudflaps and they look good. Which ones did you get? Mopar? I've seen some that are a little too big and look awkward.

The box is great. We travel for hockey and I can get all the sticks and two gear bags and my son's goalie pads up there. That is a lot of stuff.

I bought the box through craigslist. I found it for $225.00 near new condition. As is with most stuff like this, it gets used 6-10 times a year and is stored otherwise.

Mudflaps: They are the MOPAR flaps I bought through Dodge. The dealership will tell you that none are made for the Durango R/T. Ignore them. The fronts fit, but upon initial install you will see a big gap between the inner edge of the flap and the lower rocker panel. A screw goes into the bottom of the flap upward into the rocker panel. This screw will draw the rocker into the flap. The final fit is pretty good.

I also run a hitch basket when we have three or more players on the trip. I can get sticks and five gear bags on the hitch!

Racks look good. How do they sound on the highway? Do you get much wind noise? Also wondering if there is much flexibility in placement. Are you able to slide them back at all?

Boston Medic:

The racks are placed per manufacturers directions. 10 1/4 inch from the front then I think the back is 22 1/2 inch from the front bar. The box can sit anywhere laterally, but fore and aft only has about 8 inches of total movement....
Windnoise is actually very minimal. I can hear it with the sunroof slider back. But put the slider in place and I don't hear it all.

Default factory roof rack

Does anyone know why they delete the factory roof rack from the R/T and don't allow you to add it on?

It sure would be nice to have that and not have to worry about a 3rd party rack scratching up the paint and/or having to remove it when not in use.
