Just purchased a 2011 Durango Crew
Hello. Just picked up my first dodge (I expect a new RAM will be joining it in about a year). 2011 Durango Crew, V6, real wheel drive (wish it was AWD), 35,711 miles, and its loaded with everything except navigation and the tow package (also wish it had). Color is said to be White Gold.
Anyway. fully plan on adding the tow hitch, wire harness, and if I can find them, the self levelling shocks. I don't think I will need the transmission cooler, and it already has the oil cooler. The heaviest thing I will be towing is my 18.5 foot bass boat that when fully loaded is at most 3400 pounds.
Other than this, and a severely annoying, loud buzz noise that seems to come from the windshield at any speed over 60, I have like it. Nice room for the wife and 3 kids.
Anyone got any pointers on where to look for this noise (I see a thread down below about a noise I will be checking on when done posting this) or any towing tips?

Welcome!
When I bought my '11 Crew back in September, I had them include the wiring harness and factory hitch assembly as part of the deal. I also priced it out separably at around $300 - and the install appears to be crazy easy (I have the harness and receiver install guides if you need them). I'm still looking to install the load leveling shocks in the future too, but those will run $500-$700.
Also that buzzing noise might be rear view mirror - mine makes a buzzing/high pitched vibrating noise at highway speeds sometimes. If I just adjust it a tiny bit the noise goes away.

The buzzing noise I experienced was the thin plastic trim piece that covers the wiring/sensor for the rainsense wipers. It would vibrate against the windshield and since the windshield is angled back toward the driver all that sound would come right at you. A little bit of double-sided tape fixed it right up.

NUMBER: 23-022-12 REV. A
GROUP: Body
DATE: November 21, 2012
SUBJECT:
Knocking Sound From Instrument Panel Area Near The A-Pillar
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adjusting the driver side hood hinge and if necessary replacing the
hinge pivot bolt.
MODELS:
2011 - 2012 (WD) Durango
**2011 - 2012 (WK) Grand Cherokee**
NOTE: **This Bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to July 2, 2012 (MDH0702XX).**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a knocking sound from the instrument panel area near the
A-pillar.
DIAGNOSIS:
An audible buzz, squeak, or rattle (BSR) or knocking sound may appear to be coming from
the instrument panel (I/P) area at or near the front leading edge of the A-pillar. The noise
may actually be caused by an improperly adjusted hood hinge. The hood hinge can be
checked in the closed position by grasping the hood near the rear corners at the hinge and
lifting up and down. If excessive motion and/or a knocking sound is produced or the
customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
PM me the vin and I will send you a build sheet and it will list everything the vehicle came with from the factory. If you did not get the tow package you more than likely will need the wiring harness as well.

I got the part numbers for the hitch and wiring harness and the load levelling shocks. Dealer wanted more for the hitch and harness than I found them for through mopar direct on the net. And they wanted as much to install them as they cost.
The buzzing I actually think is coming from the plastic cowl beneath the windshield wipers. It sets up against the window and it is warpe din 2 places up to 1/4 inch away from the windshield.
