Default Airaid Intake on my Crew V6

So in checking out all the various forums for the new Durango I came across a thread from back in September where Airaid was looking to find a Durango to use for a day to record an installation video for their intake. Well I guess they never found anyone because I got in touch with them a month or so ago and they still needed a car to use. So long story short, they chose to use my car and they gave me the intake for free!

I got to cruise around in their Dodge Ram truck while they had my car too. It didn't make a ton of difference to the sound of the engine as it uses the stock intake tube. It has improved the throttle response and sounds better at WOT for sure.

Below are the before and after pictures.

Not to sound ignorant but how does this or a full CAI work? Please shine a light...

From what I understand. The more efficiently you can get cool air into the engine the more efficiently it will run, not only mpg wise but performance wise as well. Having a CAI assists with airflow. To complete the full benefits of this you would make the exhaust system more free flowing as well.

I am wondering why they did not utilize the outside air vent right there to feed it.

It does use that to feed it. You can't tell from the picture but it feeds right in below the filter.

So as I mentioned in the initial post of my thread, Airaid borrowed my car to make an installation video. The link to the video is below.
