Funny I'm odd man out here. I think the DD is better looking than the Jeep GC. I didn't particularly need 3 rows, but after driving both I decided the DD was much better handling and smoother than the GC. Plus the Jeep has no console storage areas to put my "stuff".

Great looking model, but the trucks are ugly. God, I thought the Jeep Commander was horrible looking but the Wagoneer concept is actually uglier. If Chrysler wants a high end 3 row, they should just add some of the nicer options from the Jeep to the D, like open pore wood and the H-K sound system. Just my opinion.

I'm with most others. I prefer the look and interior of the GC. I was deciding between my '13 Durango and a '13 GC overland completely loaded (tech package, air suspension, huge moonroof, leather wrapped dash) none of which my Durango has for the same price exactly. If I did not have two small kids and need tons of cargo room I would have bought the GC for sure, but the D makes more since for me.

Longer wheelbase definitely makes for a smoother ride.

My wife had a 2011 Jeep GC and I didn't see anything special about it. I have a 2012 Durango Citadel and I love it. I just ordered a 2014 Citadel and I can't wait until it arrives. IMO, jeeps are overrated. I think Dodge is making a huge mistake if they are in fact discontinuing the Durango. I hope that is just a rumor but since Dodge is now own by Fiat, you'll never know what's going to happen. When I ordered my new DD I saw the new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with the 6.4 V8 Hemi and again besides the bigger engine I saw nothing special.Dodge should offer the 6.4 for the Durango but that will bring the price up quite a bit. That particular Jeep SRT had no 3rd row seat, no DVD and the sticker price was at around 68,000. Really ! Don't get me wrong , it was nice looking but the 2014 Durango that I ordered is fully loaded , to include the dual DVD displays for way less than 68,000. At least the GC looks nicer than the Cherokee. I wonder who dropped the ball on that one. The plain Jeep Cherokee front end is about as ugly as they come. Again, IMO...

I COMPLETELY agree with you, man. I think the Durango is WAY better looking than the GC! However, it is all a matter of opinion and personal preference and that is mine...

Looks aside (and features too for that matter), one is a 2 row and the other is a 3 row. Those are two different segments in the industry, and Chrysler is likely to keep some form of each around for the foreseeable future. What they call it is another story. Heck, most of the tiny "SUVs" out there today are nothing more than a Ford Pinto Wagon on steroids. It's kind of a joke in my mind. Almost like everyone has to feel they are high off the road -- in a vehicle that ultimately has less stability, handling, and mpg than an old fashion station wagon.

I also agree with you. If you like the GC then no one should have a problem with it . Bottom line, it should be what you like. My wife loved her GC but traded for a VW jetta due to the gas prices. In my case, I switched from a car to an SUV back in 2000 and I will never go back to a Car, regardless of gas prices. In regards to Jeeps , I've never like them. don't ask me why. I see jeeps like Ipads and Harleys, everybody's got one and are overrated. My wife and kids have apple products and I am ok with it but I won't have or use one. I like Android devices. I bought a nice Victory Bike for less than many of my friends paid for their Harleys and when we go out riding I get lots of compliments but that's a whole different discussion. I am sure that many members here are Harley owners. Again, I am not trashing Harleys or apple products because like all products they have positives and negatives. It is just a matter of preference and taste. I also like the new Ram 1500. I think they are sick looking but It won't fit in my garage. I see no point on spending that much money on a truck to leave it out on the harsh new England weather. In a way I don't want the Durango to become extinct but at the same time, I will be cool to know that I will have one of the last model made. Regardless of what Dodge decide to do, the Durango is an awesome SUV. IMO...

Yes, the GC is 10 inches shorter, thus no 3rd row, and a 5-inch shorter wheelbase.
