Default GPS is stuck in the same location

As I was completing a 1000+ mile round trip this weekend, I stopped near the end for a break. When I resumed the trip, my GPS location stayed behind. I was about 80 miles from home and the GPS shows that I am still there. I don't know if it is related, but the change oil message came on before I noticed the GPS problem. The D R/T just turned over 8,000 miles on it with two Mobil 1 oil changes already. I already know how the oil change program works so I don't need to know any more about it. My radio is the 730N model and I just used the GPS for the map and not for directions. I have a dash top Garmin for directions. I use both on trips because I like the 730N map display better, but the Garmin does better for the directions. When I shut the D off at home, the dash radio area had a soft motor like sound with all the power off which is something I hadn't heard before. It was similar to a CD player noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated before I call the dealer with the problem. This will be the first dealer visit since I bought the D 16 months ago.

Rock and a hard place. Either go to the dealer OR disconnect the battery. Wait 15 mins and reconnect the battery. If that doesn't do it, go to the dealer. Also, check the roof antenna. I think it unscrews. Might have vibrated loose.

I would try disconnecting the battery as mentioned above!

After letting it sit for a few days, (I only drive it once or twice a week), I got to thinking about it. It was still locked up when I started it, but I remembered that if you touch the screen to move the map, the cursor stays where it was while you're moving the map around. I touched the screen to bring up that dumb bulls eye that pops up and after cancelling that, the cursor moved to my current location. I guess the problem solved itself. Since the original problem occurred at 2 in the morning, I was probably half asleep and caused it somehow. Thanks for the replies though. Seventeen months of ownership and 8,000 miles and the D R/T still hasn't been to a dealer yet.
