Default CAI decission help

I am torn between all the different choices, I had K&N on my 2004 and liked it a lot with the Flowmaster Cat Back. Keep it and installed on my 2008 and it howled pretty bad.

Now back to choices to what I'm leaning toward.

1. Mopar just so factory warranty and service cant say a word. Dis likes. metal tube , looks like poor fit where the tube passes through the metal shield and higher cost.

2.K&N tested design but then the oiled filter can be a warranty issue, like the price and if bought right from K&N can be returned.

3. Volant, Like the design with box cover just concerned about warranty.

4. AFE looks the biggest and best design short of no cover.

I'm not concerned of little mote noise and wondering if it enhances the stock R/T exhaust a little. My K&N did make the flowmaster a bit louder.

Any and all feedback appreciated. I have read just about all the threads and still undecided.

Thanks in advance.

I have had the K&N CAI on my Caddy for awhile and I can hear it sucking the air in and whining on hard accelerations which I like a lot. I installed the Volant CAI on my DD and don't hear it sucking in the air like the K&N system does, so if your after that sound go with any other open top CAI IMO.

I took my DD to the dealer for it's first oil change last week (changed over to synthetic oil) and the service manager didn't even blink twice about the CAI installed or the BT oil catch can for that matter when I opened the hood. They would have to prove the mods caused the failure to void the warranty. Good luck with your choice !

Thanks V for the record I'm not after that air sucking sound. I actually cut up the CAI for my 2008 and just used the inlet tube to the factory box with a KN drop in square filter.

Then Volant sounds like the right choice, just get the non-oil type filter CAI, they sell both kinds.

I was split between the volant and afe. Went with afe, dont regret it for a minute. Exhaust has a deeper growl.

Woblik?

Is there a dry filter option with the AFE? I couldn't find one and the oiled filters seem to be the ones the Dealers frown upon at service time,

Get a legmaker (google "legmaker intakes"). He makes carbon fiber ones and I've dynoed his intakes on my '07 charger SRT8 and they made most power for the price. I have one in my '12 Durango R/T and it has the quickest 1/4 mile ET of anyone here w/ Gen 3 Durango

I know a little about these new hemi engines. Here is my Charger's motor on the dyno yesterday at Bischoff Engine Service in Indiana. Most powerful all motor Gen III hemi out there.
