Default '14 - Crew Trim Gone - Replaced By Limited

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/08/14/2.../#aol-comments

SXT base price remains the same, Limited starts $800 above the old Crew.

Looks like the base prices of the R/T and Citadel go up $2,500 and $1,000 respectively.

Besides the larger touch screen and instrument cluster info screen, don't know. Probably have to wait until the website's build feature is updated.

The rear entertainment makes sense. Aren't there now two screens incorporated in the to backs of the first row buckets?

Yep. That increase seems logical. Plus the addition of a Blu Ray player and separate a/v inputs for each screen.

The options packages are a little differnet but best I can tell my '13 that stickered for $37.3k would now sticker for $39k. I "think" the only functional difference besides the tranny is the auto-leveling HID headlamps. And I guess the slightly larger touchscreen.

Basically you're paying for that new 8-speed and at only around $100 a year gas savings for the average driver, the payback period will be a few years long....

.....Plus you give up the floor shift linkage for a rotary dial with paddle shifters on the wheel. With 3rd gear coming so quickly (1st and 2nd are pretty low) you'd better be handy with the thumbs. Since I'm an old stick shift driver, the floor shifter entertains me and provides a comfy place to rest my right hand. Rotary shift dial was a deal breaker for me. 2014 Jeep has that fussy computerized floor shifter which makes it awkward to select the correct position.

Sometimes technology is not wonderful....

What's really bizarre about that dial shifter is they didn't move it up onto the dash, a la the Ram (and the shift levers on the Pilot and most minivans) to make more storage space in the console. Quite a wasted opportunity for creating more storage.

Yup...that's my gripe with the dial. On the other hand, it's not a complete waste since the lower profile dial does give easier access to the ports (memory card, usb, aux) that would otherwise be slightly obscured by the shift lever.

There is a decided lack of space in the D's front console area...especially if you add the DVD player (or CD player). That's my only real gripe with the interior.
