Default Jack and jack stand locations

Fellas,

Can someone please provide a pic of your jack and jack stand locations you are using when doing oil changes. I'm not a big fan of using ramps and I am looking for a good spot to support the Durango with stands. I also prefer using my floor jack if possible.

Thanks.

In the last 18 months, 2 people in the Houston area have been killed by their cars falling off jackstands. One guy was 62 years old. His wife turned into the driveway to see him crushed under his old VW Beetle. Another guy, 81 years old, yes 81, was crushed by his VW bus when it fell off the jackstands. Likely they were tugging on a nut or a bolt and got the vehicle rocking. When I turned 60 (a while back) I made a promise to my wife that I would no longer go up on a roof or under a car. Moral of the story? Be real careful.

I use ramps, so I have yet to have the DD on a jack yet. I keep my floorjack in my trunk though. If I'm already pissed off with a flat I don't want to get more aggravated using the factory jack.

Don't crawl under a car using the factory jack. The unit is weak and cannot support more than one corner of the vehicle at a time. Watched a car fall on a guy who was changing his oil while the ENTIRE front end of the vehicle was supported by a stock aka ( tire changing jack) he was lucky 5 other guys where there to lift the car, he got out with only broken wrists and ribs.Asking for trouble there.

Not to mention even getting to the pos jack or spare wheel, I know unrelated but jesus what happened to grabbing tire and jack from trunk. Its going to take longer to get Jack and spare wheel off than it is changing tire.

After reading how this got side tracked about factory jacks and such, I think all he is asking is where do you jack up your Durango using a floor jack. And where are you resting it on the jack stands?

Right?

Bingo! If nobody has an answer for that specific question then please don't bother. Just asking for directions, not opinions.

I have my own idea of where I will raise the Durango, just looking for what others have done. I'm used to having frame rails to work with, been a truck guy until this ride.

I posted in another thread n here some pics I took where I have been lifting my truck. I use my 3 ton floor jack and a corvette lift puck on it which fit perfectly in the rear oval lift spot then I turn it over and use the round side to lift the front on the lower control arm, very secure lift. It actually picks up the whole side when you jack it up high enough for stands. the truck is very rigid.

I'll look for the thread then update.

Corvette lift puck, one side round to fit into 3 ton floor jack oval side to fit into corvette lift holes. I found it also works for our trucks like this:

In the front there is a brace rear of the lower control arms that has a circle hole. The puck fits tight using the round side and I use the floor jack cup to hold the puck and lift the front.

In the rear, I location I use the oval side of the puck inserted into the oval lift location, the round bottom end fit in floor jack hole without the cup installed.
