No, the catch can will sove it. As it is stated in the TSB the new Oil pan design and program change will help REDUCE it but will not solve it ;-) The devil always is in the details... s small text passage but it is important to know that it will not be solved with the TSB... it just reduces it....

Ill keep my current pan and catch can...The software probably detunes the PCM as well.
Dodge did a Deathflash back on the Gen 1's a while back which killed performance on those D's. I will only take the flashes that are necessary

Had this flash done well before (Back in August) it got to the site on my 2013 Durango R/T and it STILL smokes so DO NOT BOTHER! It also did something to the trucks performance and will be talking with the dealer this week.

Currently waiting to see if Chrysler is going to pick up the cost and installation of the catch can that they swear will not make a difference.

Default Smoke on Start TSB, Powertrain Warranty Covered?

Hi just bought 2011 Citadel, And it is smoking on start up when parked in driveway on incline.
Since it is out of regular warranty but still in power train warranty will they fix at no cost? Has anyone had any luck with getting this covered under power train warranty? Makes sense to me that your oil pan and the PCM "Powertrain Control Module" would be covered since it is effecting the engine but first dealer I called told me oil pan was not covered and without hearing my symptoms and matching them up with the TSB he was quick to say I have to pay for it and to do a bunch of other tests first. Basically telling me to go away over the phone. (Crown Chrysler Dublin Ohio) I guess Chrysler doesn't seem to care that every time I start my car in my driveway it smokes, Kids ingest it in the car and neighbors and friends think: "Cool truck but won't buy one if this is how it performs".

Would like to know if anyone has had luck? BTW: in the TSB it states if customer describes systems to perform TSB, Also says :POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty. (Which Warranty?)

Is it bad for the engine or catalytic converter?

I had the TSB done and it fixed it. To do it they had to remove the steering rack - and they found the rack was leaking, so it was replaced under warranty. Should have taken a day but was in the shop for an extra day (and a weekend) waiting for the rack.
