Default Annoying Seatbelt Chime!

I just purchased a new 2014 Durango and I am wondering how I would go about disabling the seatbelt chime, it is absolutely irritating.

Before anyone posts that I shouldn't be worrying about disabling it because I should wear it I have heard it all already. It is a choice and I choose not to so if someone can please help me it would be greatly appreciated.

It is a federal law and I would assume the chime can not be altered. I will move this th the correct section.

On my old Touareg I was able to disable mine with my vag com tool. I am sure if you had the scanner tool you could do it.

Yeah, in my 2011 RAM all you had to do was turn the key to the run position without cranking, then buckle and unbuckle 10 times in 1 minute and viola, no more chime! Not sure if this works in the Durango though. I'll give it a try tonight and see.

Thanks for posting this, you reminded me I need to do the same.

According to your owners manual:

BeltAlert® can be enabled or disabled by your authorized
dealer. Chrysler Group LLC does not recommend
deactivating BeltAlert®.

Looks like you can't disable it yourself.

Or just order a belt insert.

They sure do.

I have been eyeballing them for a month now.

Measure the resistance between the two wires that travel to the buckle the third is a ground. Then buy a resistor at radio shack of the sane resistance for less than a buck. Install between lead wire and PCM wire and bingo! No more chime.
