Default Extended Warranty. Good idea ?

I have a 2011 Crew Hemi AWD and I just purchased Dodge extended warranty. I opted for the best one they had to offer. Unlimited Miles and Life time. No expiration after x years. It is pretty much a bumper to bumper new car warranty. I normally sell my cars every two years but have decided to keep this one because its so practical and capable. I paid 2500.00 for the warranty from a Dodge dealer. Do you think it was worth it ?

The only thing that matters is if you think it's worth it. If you don't have cash on hand to fix an issue outside of warranty than yes. If you have cash on hand andfeel you can get away with less than $2,500.00 in repairs outside of warranty then no. My .02

Lifetime is the key word. If you keep the truck only 10 years then $250 a year is dirt cheap insurance. Hell you can't even insure your body for that cheap. I say good deal...

If you keep it for a long time, then that's a great deal. Warranty Direct charges nearly $2,200 for a 6 year/85,000 mile warranty. Compared to your deal it seems overpriced. Plus prices go up after your vehicle has 4,000 miles.

I opted for the lifetime warranty as well. I do a lot of miles (30k to 40k a year) so I've always traded before I hit 100k on most of my vehicles. Having the lifetime warranty is actually a relief since I don't feel like I'm needing to worry about that. I'm just going to roll with it and see how long I can get good service from it. My 12 year old or 9 year old may just get to drive it.

Who is providing the warrantee? If it's a factory or manufacture warrantee it sounds great. If it's third party many have gone out of business or you fight with every repair. I bought the Chrysler warrantee for my Jag when I bought it and it just about paid for itself with no questions asked.

I think Warranty Direct is the only other company dealers will offer, as they have been in business for 30 years and pattern their plans after the manufacturers. There's plenty of fly by night companies out there too.

it is direct from dodge. It is their best one which covers over 5000 items. Pretty much a new car warranty.

With the track record Chrysler has with its vehicles and all the problems I had with my Journey, I went with the lifetime for my 2013 Durango. This way they can eat it each time I bring it in for servicing.

So far truck has been to the shop 4 times and never paid a thing for it. It was pricey, but in the end it will pay for itself.

A couple of months ago my dealer offered me a 60mo.(from date of issue)/70K "comprehensive" policy through Zurich for $1660 with a $200 deductable. My '12 had about 28K on it at the time. The car came with a 60/100K warranty so I'd be buying another 24-30 mo coverage for $1660. Not much of a deal I'd think.
I'm still thinking it over now that I've heard of the cylinder head issue.
