I want to do the same thing. I have the upgraded center console in the second row but would rather have the smaller standard console. I could just buy the standard console from Dodge but I want the second row arm rests.

I wonder if you can add the armrests to the second row seats that don't come with them originally.

Any one know??

No. Big shock, my dealer never bothered to get back with me on it. I am taking it in for a service next week. I will ask again.

Yeah I did this about 6 months ago on my '13 Durango R/T. Full console was great until the third kid, and the need to get in the back without climbing over the console (with carseats in the middle row). So I swapped out to the mini (floor) console. It was an easy replacement. I think the mini-console was in the $100 range with trip pieces. One dealer told me it couldn't be done - won't be going back there. Another Dodge dealer made the swap in less than 20 minutes. The floor bracket is the same as the mini-console, about four bolts, and the wiring for the lighting, power, etc. of the large console is in one single wiring harness, so simply disconnected to remove. The other side of the harness just tucked in under the mini-console. At that point I realized I could have done it myself. Should also be easy to reinstall the full console later on.

I didn't bother doing anything about armrests for the second row buckets.

Thats good to know. So I could probably just order the mini console and swap it myself. It would be nice to get the armrests on but that may be too much trouble.

Question

Mine R/T came with the 2nd row mini-console but now have the full console ready to install. I am still trying to figure out how to connect it so the 2nd row full console cup holders illuminating rings and other electrical plug would work similar to the front main console. I removed the 2nd row small console but did not see any wires down there. I am not sure if it can be piggy back from the main front console or it I need to remove the bucket seat, carpeting or front console in order to piggy back from there.

After that I still need to find a way to plug the holes left after I remove the rear bucket seats arm rests. ;(

my thread is still alive, nice! I ended up buying one without the upgraded console. I really like how the smaller console one looks. It lines up right against my 2nd row weathertech floormats and has an (easy cleanable plastic) stepping pad into the 3rd row. Love it!

The upgraded 2nd row console on the one I almost bought was ok, but I did really like the lit up cup holders. Maybe if my boys were teenagers it would have worked. They are only 5 and 2 now

You could both take your consoles out and trade pics...? If I had to guess, the large console mounts to a metal frame bracket that screws into the 4 holes that the mini concole mounts to.

REAR FULL

  1. Using a Trim Stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the trim caps (1) from the console (2).
  2. Remove the screws (3) and separate the console (2).
  3. Position aside the console (3) and disconnect the electrical connector (4).
  4. Remove the console (3).
Awesome thank you I was looking to do this with my console as well!
