shimmy @ 65mph after balance and road force
Hello everybody, I just switched the 20' oem for a 22' set on my r/t and everything is ok but a shimmy at 60/65mph. Wheels and tires were balanced and road forced 4 times and they are ok (hunter 9700), the technician swear that the set is ok, and since he didn't sell me the set there is no interest or need to lie, besides that he didn't charge me a penny since the first time he suggested me to make it check somewhere else to have a second opinion so I took it to the dealer to find out that all parts are ok, then to Sears auto care to get it balanced once more and another guy there told me that he was thinking that the front wheels were cupping, so I did 600 miles last weekend in order to get them even. The light shimmy still there…is not a shake but a light shimmy that is gone…and back…I will really appreciate any advice or similar experience that could help me out to keep this set.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
What kind of tires? I have a similar feel sometimes and it has gotten better since the tires have worn a bit.And in my case the tires FALKENS are the problem, they are really not great tires at all. They took a ****load of weight to balance and the are not good with changing road surfaces.

The D is notorious for shaking. Many people with 11's and 12's had a lot of vibration issues. Mine was bad with the stock 20's and Conti rubber. Other's had the same problem with the Kumho's. I went to 22's with Falkens and it actually got better so I left it alone. My Falkens are on the way out and the shake is back and probably worse than when I was on my stock set. Nobody has really ever gotten down to the bottom of the issue.
If you needed a lot of weight to balance the tires, then they could be out of round (as someone else also said, Falkens are not great tires). A good tire shop (not Sears!) can check that for you and correct it by shaving the rubber. You lose some tire you paid for, but...next time you can spend the money up front on better rubber. You also mention new 22s. Depending on the quality of the wheels, they could also have issues with balance.
Well, my set is 285/40/22 toyo proxes st II on cv1 vossen, in my humble opinion their are not a cheap set and there wasn't needed a lot of weight to balance them, in fact a few oz. But what drives me nuts is the shimmy at 60 that goes and come back with no sense.
Personally don't count on Sears in order to make a serious job but a second opinion. I'm with you Steve regarding the worn out, I feel them more stable as miles go up. Whatsoever I'm looking for any advice or theory that can help me out to keep this set.
Thanks everybody and have a wonderful day.

Exactly and what this tell us since we are feeling better ride with tire wear is that Dodges Factory alignment specs are off. I am willing to bet this problem is most related to the R/t's. Someone in engineering needs to possibly come up with new specs, it's not just about thr truck going straight down the road when it comes to alignment
