Default Automatic High Beams

Has anyone figured out how to get the automatic high beams to go on and off when you meet an oncoming vehicle? I can't even get any consistency as to when the auto feature becomes active, and then it almost always goes directly to high. The only way I have found to get from High to Low, or back is to switch to manual headlights? Any comments would be appreciated.

Same here. I've flipped them on just to see what happens, but even driving in my neighborhood with no other cars and they've never come on.

My point exactly, but if you put the wheel arm forward prior to starting the car, the high beans come on, and stay on until the arm is pulled back. Then don't come on again when you put the arm forward, unless you shut the car off, and restart it.
Makes no logical sense to me.

Activate them in the EVIC. Mine work great.

This shows how to use the EVIC. But what it does not show is the High beam setting.

Didn't even know the Durango had these! Saw the thread this morning and used them all the way home this evening. You just turn on the high beams by moving the turn signal lever forward. Then they come on and off all by themselves depending on whether or not there is oncoming traffic. Worked like a charm. I also got to use the rain sensing wind shield wipers all the way home to.

Mine work pretty well as far as reacting to oncoming traffic. It has to be totally dark for them to switch to high (out in the country it will go to high beams unless there is oncoming traffic, they generally would not come on in the city). They do not do a good job of cutting out the low beams when there is a car in front of me.

I think the sensor is in front of the rear view mirror, so if you have a dirty window perhaps that can affect it.

How hard does it have to be raining for the sensing wipers to kick in? Haven't driven it in the rain yet, but did drive it on the freeway and there was some spray that came up from the car in front of me that coated the windshield. They didn't kick on and I thought they probably should have.
