Default Plastidip instead of 3m clear bra

Anybody try this?

I want to protect the whole front end from rocks and debris. Gonna cost $700 to do the clear bra (invisible shield stuff) but was thinking of the possibility of spraying pastidip instead. My Durango is white so I'd just use a white color.

Never used the stuff but might be worth a shot.

Thoughts?

Just checked out dipyourcar.com. That stuff is unbelievable. Some have covered very nice vehicles completely. Won't it damage the paint underneath? can you remove it easily? will it damage the paint when you remove it?

Wont damage, peels off pretty easy. Use their tips. My cause fading if you you put a stripe on, but any decal would do the same

Looks like you need to be sure your paint and clear coat aren't too new.

From dipyourcar:

My car has a fresh paintjob, when is it safe to Dip?
The general consensus, is 6 months, but depend solely on your conditions and brand of clearcoat. 9 months is the safe zone if there are any concerns.
I take NO responsibility for problems with paint/clearcoat, and neither does DYC, do your own research and dip at your own risk.

Avoid plastidip, do it right the first time and save yourself the hassle.

As long as you clean your car and prep it with "pre dip" a cleaning spray that removes oils, you'll be fine. Just make sure you use enough coats. I'd say at least 6 coats and it will peel off easily. If you get tears or nicks you can use Naptha(paint thinner) and it will re liquify it and then you can spray right over it. It'll look brand new. Just give it a week to cure before you use a pressure washer.

I think I'll try it. Not sure if there is a clear option or if the white would look ok.

Make sure you put it on thick so it peels off easy. I would try the clear instead of the white. Issue is the white will stain very easy.
