Default What an oil change!

Good lord you guys weren't kidding about the aggravation of changing the oil on this thing. Even with a huge drop cloth it still splattered out past it even with me using a funnel to direct the flow into the catch. Good grief.

Anyway, I bought my truck used and the "inspection hole" where the oil drain and filter is doesn't have a door to it.... It's just a open hole. It appears there should be one...... Is mine missing or do they not have one?

Mine is missing to. Looking at the molding it looks like it was never installed. The pre-marked holes aren't drilled out to accept the door. Might bring it up next visit to the dealer.

Oh, and do yourself a favor and grab a Qwik valve (Fumoto). The a version will hook up to a tube and drain right into your pan.

And you won't have to worry about torquing the drain bolt every time. One and done. Then just a flip of the lever to drain the oil. $26

Glad to know mine isn't the only one missing one. It looks like there should be a remove able door/plate there. I assumed the previous owner/dodge/or quick lube place just tossed it.

As long as I've been tooling on cars I've never come across that valve like that before. That's awesome! Thanks for pointing towards that, that'll be going on all my vehicles! Especially this one, ANYTHING that makes this one a cleaner job is worth it. Good lord

I just ordered my '14 Citadel. Very happy to have oil changes for a lifetime after hearing this! They come pick up my truck and leave a loaner for the day, I get it back that night. Sounds like its well worth having the loaner for the day!
