Did a quick check on license plate bulb on line for my '11 Durango and can obtain for under $10. Perhaps a different bulb, but this aftermarket one is LED. I have not had to replace mine yet.

The 14 is completely different, it is a unit. Bulb, circuit board, lens, enclosure....all molded together and you can't take it apart. The unit snaps into the tailgate so the only way you're getting around it would be to cut it open with a Dremel, pull the guts out and put something different in but keep the molded enclosure somehow. Then make sure whatever you put in Is compatible with the amps/volts dodge is sending it.
aftermarket options will be years down the road in this item.

On a 2014 this really sounds like a warranty part replacement. No bulb should go out that quickly, and even 3 years from now who's to say it's not the circuit board vs. the bulb? That would still be warranty.
You'd be surprised, I had a Benz that was similar. I was able to find the LED entire assembly so not only did I get LED but the entire assembly on eBay. See if it uses the same as the Mercedes. You could try to reference the 2008 CL550 which is what I had that required an entire piece.
PS: I wonder if moisture is getting in there hence the frequent burn outs.
