Brace yourselves..... $65.00. And you have 2 of them!

Glad it was covered under warranty but what a poor design. $130.00 for two itty bitty bulbs! As a consumer I see this as complete nonsense.

Surely there is a cheaper alternative at your local auto parts store, isn't there? Get the old burned-out bulbs and start asking around.

nope, each bulb is enclosed in its own sealed enclosure with a circuit board in it. The whole sealed piece fits snugly in the tailgate.

In other words, dodge has themselves a real cash cow on this one.

If they would have made the compartment water tight they would last a long time.
Maybe they can make a rubber shield for this as well\

I am going to pop both individual units out and give them a film of silicone.

I may have to start sticking my head in the sand and stop reading this forum. I'm starting to think I made a bad selection. This and the TIPM thread have me shook. CEL just came on too.

What they should have done is made these things LEDs like the rest of the rear tail lights. Having said that, in all my years of driving I think I might have replaced one license plate bulb. So I'm not sure this is a realistic worry.

Not yet, but I bet there will be. Google search turns up nothing.

LOL, and I thought the Chrysler Dealer wanting 10 bucks to replace one plate bulb in my '05 Ram was out a line! Told me this while in for oil change.
So 2 bucks for a package of 2 (model 168) bulbs and about a minute max to install. Only about $480 an hour labor at the dealer.
