Default Park --> Drive or Park -->Reverse Clunking Noise

So I have now noticed a loud clicking/clunking noise when shifting from P --> D or P --> R and back. The DD has 4500 miles on it. Anyone else experience this? Almost sounds like something is broke or about to break!

There was a service bulletin (21-010-12) for a valve body issue for model year 2011 and 2012, though the 2014 has a different transmission so that bulletin would not apply. Still, could be a similar valve body issue. Obviously you'll want to take it in, but I figure there's a 50% chance they'll say it's normal. Otherwise, I'm betting on a valve body issue.

Mine does this when on incline or with trailer behind. A little slop under load when shifting out of park is normal for an auto trans. If it concerns you, take it in to the dealer.

Certainly have the dealer inspect and review the condition.

I had this problem when I purchased the vehicle. As mentioned earlier, there was a TSB out to address the issue. Ever since then the vehicle has shifted very smooth.

I think this was the TSB: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2101012.pdf

Misread your profile, though it said 2014 Durango. BTW - it does say 2001, suspect you mean 2011 since no Citadel in 2001.

I have the same issue when parked on an incline. From park to drive or reverse, I heard a clunking noise from transmission. I have not taking it back to the dealer yet. In the mean time, before I park my D, I put the parking brake on and them place it I to park. The next time I drive, I put the D I to gear and release the parking brake. No clunk. An added step, but gives me peace of mind until I take it to the dealer.
