Default first oil change

i stumbled across something on the Dodge owner's website that has me a bit skeptical. They claim the first oil change schedule for my 2015 Durango is 1000 miles...... Am i that out of touch? I thought break in was maybe a thousand, then you could change every 5000 or 10000 miles with the new synthetics on the market. anyone else run across this ?

Personally I would refer to the owners manual.

yeah the owner's manual says to change at 4000 for a heavy duty maintenance schedule... offroad or dusty conditions... I think I will change the oil at 4000 and replace it with royal purple oil and filter. Just want to take good care of her I plan n having the Durango with me till the end of my days.

The owners manual for my '13 Hemi D doesn't give any mileage for oil change interval, it just says it's due when the light comes on. Am I missing something somewhere?
We bought it with 18,000 miles and the dealer had just changed it. We're at 7,500 right now and I figured I'd let it go to 10,000 just to see if the light ever comes on. We do 80% highway driving with it.

I have a '96 Intrepid we've owned since '98 that I change on the 10's (3.3 V6) and it has 286,000 and still going strong (again, mostly highway miles).

Change it when you want to. Most vehicles have that oil light nowadays. Personally, I dont use it, I change my newer cars every 6 months/6000 miles using full synthetic. My older cars still get the 3 mont/3000 mile treatment.
