Default New Durango Owner (Traded Audi Q7 POS)

Hey guys, been mostly a Mercedes, Audi, and now Jaguar fan. But I traded my CL550 for a Jaguar XJL and recently got rid of my POS Audi Q7 (money pit). Even the freakin battery was under the drivers seat. You damn near have to take the entire seat out. WTF! Don't get me started.

Anyway, my SUV is just my beater for hauling kids, and "stuff". My kids don't get in my Jag. But I remember having a Durango for a rental car in 2011. I was impressed. Drove it from MD to FL. So when I got rid of my Audi I thought I need something good looking (still not as sexy as my Audi Q7 S-Lined out), cheap, easy to maintain, not over engineered (think replacing battery without removing a freakin driver seat!).

I decided on the Durango. I really wanted black, but the black ones in my area weren't Hemi's or didn't have a sunroof, or was an SXT instead of a Crew etc etc. I love it so far, probably has more features than my Q7, it just doesn't turn heads like the Audi. That's fine, when I need to turn heads I pull out my car. In the meantime I need this thing to at least look "different".

I settled on a 2011, Hemi Crew, Silver.

Planned Upgrades:

TINT (DONE)

TINT FRONT WINDSHIELD (DONE)

HID Headlamps and Fogs (DONE)

24" Wheels (DONE, 26" would have been better)

LED Switchback LED/Turn Signal/Park Light (to match the front colors up nicely). Waiting on delivery.

LED Interior (WAITING FOR IT TO WARM THE HELL UP)

HALO Headlamps (Ordered. I'm not about taking apart lights, so I ordered them pre-installed by Oracle)

Color Match/Paint Bottom Trim, Bottom Bumper, and Lower Front (CONSIDERING)

I want some nice CLEAN LED tails (not that ugly clear madness I've seen old Durangos running around with). I prefer the subtle stock look. But I hate that nasty looking race track crap. That looks horrible in my opinion. Hoping a not overly different looking LED style comes out aftermarket.

The Trade

Hate to break it to you, but your battery is now under the PASSENGER seat.

And welcome aboard!

Wow. Quick to jump on the mod wagon!! Congrats. Nice looking ride. HID's in stock housings is not the greatest idea.

hate to break it to you, but hids in reflectors are pretty horrible, especially in reflector fogs.

Wow didn't think 24s would look that good, but other than raising the vehicle up a bit they look really sharp. Welcome and get your credit card ready if you hang around here too much.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys.

1. Please tell me you're joking about the battery being under the seat in the Durango!!

2. Regarding HIDs in the reflective housing, it looks decent, but I knew there had to be a reason it didn't look as good as other vehicles. Either way you can't tell me the pissy stock lights look better. Do they make projectors for this thing?

3. The 24" wheels actually still look small in my opinion. On my Q7 they looked like 24", the Durango looks like 22". I had to get a thicker tire on the D also because my other low profile tires left way too much wheel well.

My RT has em. With as much as you like vehicles I'm surprised you didn't go with an RT or at least a Citadel.

Yea battery is under the passenger side seat, but atleast its not the drivers seat!

For a bit more then you paid for the oracle modded lights, you could have bought an aftermarket set of lights and gotten them modded with projectors, halos etc. If you ever stand in front of your durango, you'd notice that its near impossible to look at the headlights. Where as with projector HIDS you can stare at it, and theres not light blinding you
