Default Front Heated Seats ???

OK, it's been 2 seasons and the front heated seats are a joke. After 20 minutes, the only heat is coming from my own behind. The middle row heats up fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Checked the wiring? Fuses? Do you have power to the front ones?

Do you have the heated and cooled front seats, or heated only?

The heated and cooled are typically less effective than the heated only. The heated only use a resistive element for the heat, the heated and cooled use a Peltier device.

Fuses are live. I have the heated and ventilated seats.

It's actually bad enough to be a joke. My 300C gets too hot after 5 mins even if you change to low.

I've got a few shopping list items so I'll get the dealer to check while I'm still under warranty.

I'm very new to the Durango, and mine only has heated seats, but on my Ford products with the heated and ventilated seats there is an air filter under the seats for the Peltier device. If that filter were restricted it would reduce air flow for the heated seats and make them seem ineffective. It could also cause the devices to overheat and shut down as well. You might check for a filter and if you find one, remove it for some short term testing to see if that helps.

I find the heated seats overwhelming, I wish I could only keep it hot on my back and not my taint. Yours probably have an issue, mine heat up too much

harv1234,

I'm sorry to hear about your heated seat concerns. Your servicing Dodge dealer will certainly be able to determine if an issue is present with your front seats. Be sure to speak with the Service Manager if you have any additional questions as well.

Same problem. I have complained about the seats every oil change. They hit the seats with a laser thermometer and say they meet specs. I'm sick of it. I believe there is some kind of short because they work occasionally (very hot) and sometimes not at all. If you keep turning them on and off sometimes you can get them to work properly. Every issue with this SUV has been a battle to get fixed. There has been a lot of them too. I'm basically stuck, and would love for my seats to be fixed.

When I got my Durango in May, they heated up well (really well)... But since the weather has gotten cold they don't feel like they are heating and sometimes shut off after a couple of seconds... I forget if it was this forum or another, but I heard there was a TSB about this when they first came out...? But I'm not sure... I'd love to get my fixed, but dont want to pay an arm and a leg to do it... lol

funkydodge and 911Boulder,

What model year and type of engine do you have?
