Default 430n RHB won't read any discs

So our new to us 2011 D's 430n RHB radio is having issues with playing any sort of disc. It just says that it's "reading disc" but nothing happens beyond that! Any ideas what to do? I went to upgrade the firmware from 23.04.41 to the 33 and 50 versions today and I'm at a stalemate until I can get the CD/DVD drive working.

I have also been having issues with the HDD as well as it will play some songs sometimes but it will show the HDD is empty at others but I'm not sure if this is related or not. Any help would be appreciated.

You could try and update the unit via a USB flash drive. Go straight to version 50.00.07
1 of the symptoms updated is CD/DVD will not play in the TSB.

Have you tried contacting our Uconnect team? You can reach them at 1-877-855-8400.

Done some more research and it sounds like the HDD is pooched. Ordered an new 64 gig preloaded SSD and we'll see if that fixes it. I'll keep you posted.

So I tried the new SSD and although it gets recognized I can't upload any songs from the front USB to it. It's still locking up randomly and my optical drive still doesn't work. I removed the SSD and tried the unit without it and it worked ok overall (radio, SAT, Nav) but still the optical drives won't work.

I've tried to upload the updated firmware through both USB ports but the .iso file doesn't get recognized at all. Any tips on how to do this?

I haven't tried calling the uconnect team yet, I guess it's an option.

It was suggested to me that there may be a problem with the drive controller in the unit or with the on board circuitry.

Is the optical drive prone to failure?
Could there be a problem internally with the RHB's circuitry or drive controller?
What other options are there to fix this issue?

the .ISO file is an image you need to extract and get the actual files.
Use an ISO extractor like ISO Opener http://www.isoopener.com/

Okay, I tried that but the front USB port won't read what's on the thumb drive. It's FAT32 too btw. It recognizes that there is something there when I put it in but it won't read the files that is there. There is no indication that the drive is being read either (red LED on the drive will flash when it's being read).

Fixed!!!

So I went in to the dealership to get the VIN checked for any recalls on our D and after they checked it they informed me that the original owner had purchased the "Gold" extended warranty! So I asked them to have a look at my radio issue and, after an hour or so, I now have a fully functioning unit! They told me they had to do an update to it which included a NAV update as well. So once I got it home I checked the CD/DVD, front USB port and it all works. I even have all the mp3 files that I had loaded onto the HDD reappear.

I checked the software version however and it's the same as the old one (ver 23) so I'm not sure what they did. Maybe just re-flashed it somehow. Anyway, I just finished updating to version 33 and I'll run it for a few days and think about updating to ver 50.

Thanks for everyone's help!
