Default A/C Leak

I found the A/C leak!

It is the condenser. The leak is in the lower driver's side corner below the pipe connections.

It leaked some green stuff that dripped on the plastic shield underneath.

Has anyone had this type of problem?

Thanks

Claus

the sad part is the cost of 1234yf ( YF = "your F'ed" we call it cause it ain't cheap)

Are you beyond bumper to bumper warranty coverage?

Default AC Leak

Question:

Which condenser should I buy?

I've seen prices on the internet starting at $50+ up to $160.

Thanks

the dealer has specialty tools that will allow for sectioning in a repair instead of replacing the entire line from the rear evaporator to just in front of firewall. The repaired section needs to be covered in loom to protect it from damage.
It was the same at my 2011 DD. Here in Germany it's not only because of rocks but in the winter there are tons of salt on the streets and the salt is very aggressive to all kinds of metal. They cut of the peaces of pipes with the holes and repair them with fittings like these.

It works fine since 10000 miles.

Default A/C Leak

Update:

Bought a set of A/C gauges and a vacuum pump for $100 on ebay

Bought a new condenser ($55) and desiccant ($9) in Rockauto.com

Replaced the condenser myself and added $50 worth of freon 134a and PAG46 oil.

Now the A/C is working fine (knock on wood!)
