Default Water in rear LED race track

Anybody else have this issue?

I have a 2014 Limited and making an appointment this week to get it fixed. Not sure of the longevity of these LED's obviously with water they are toast but wondering if anybody has had to replace or repair the LED's at all.

Thanks!

Mine had that the day I bought it (used). Then I discovered that night a section of the racetrack light was out. Dealer replaced it under warranty. Then replaced it again because the replacement they installed had a broken corner.

I've heard of this before - it has to do with the unit not being properly sealed at manufacture. When the new one is removed from the package ask the techs to apply an additional sealant to the seam all the way around.

This seems a common problem, a friend of mine pointed it out the other day and I'm noticing practically every D that I see on the road has this. You can tell by the dimmer lower section, which is filled with water.

The dealer said there was a crack basically on the top of the track centered that was allowing water in. I saw it there for a while and figured it was part of the assembly. I had a really awful electrical burning smell in the cabin and come to find out it was the circuit board shorting out on the rear hatch.

Dealer is seeing more and more of these cases of water in the LED assembly so hopefully its not a widespread deal with the D's especially since mine is a '14 and first year of the rear LED's.

He said the replacement price was over 1000.00...luckily i'm still under warranty!!

I have a 2017 that has this exact problem. It's an $1800 fix up her e in Canada. You can remove the two bottom bolts (10mm) on the edge of the tailgate-this allows the water to drain at least.

Default Want to buy a burned out racetrack light for 2014 durango

If you replaced your 2014 race track light and have the old one sitting in the garage collecting dust that is in good shape I will buy it from you if you want to sell it cheap and I will pay shipping cost too. Racetrack must be in great shape other than LED not working. Want to experiment with repacing the LEDs and need one to cut open. Message me if you are interested.

I had my 2017 LED rear race track replaced under the extended MOPAR warranty a few moths back.

Can I ask how you were able to get it replaced under the extended warranty? I have a 2017, that the light was replaced under warranty, now is failing again, I have the extended warranty and my dealer says it’s not covered, I called Dodge warranty and they said it was not covered either…. If there is a way to get it covered I’d like to try before my warranty expires too…
