The battery seems fine. The lights radio and everything else works.

Is the key fob remotely locking/unlocking the doors? Is the Durango sensing the key fob is basically what I'm getting at. If not try another key fob or replace the key fob battery. Or if you can't, try pushing in the start button with the keyfob.

Battery is always a good start, as mentioned. But if your lights, bells, chimes, radio, etc work it may be the fob not being detected. Just a thought.

The doors do lock and unlock, but it doesn't have the option to remote start.

No I'm not saying remote start. I'm asking if the truck recognizes the key fob. Like when you're sitting in it.

I'm gonna get yelled at for linking to YouTube. Just trying to help.

We are experiencing a lot of rain here and apparently the starter got wet. I tapped it a couple of times with a hammer and it started right up.

Well, starters are designed to get wet. When you can, check the connections to the starter for corrosion and consider replacing it. That's not normal.

usually tapping on the starter to get it to turn over is a sign that the starter is on its way out, the brushes are worn and not making good contact all the way around, tapping it moves things just enough to get contact, but if it stops on that spot again it will likely present the same symptoms
