Starting problem
Ok so are durango has been acting up lately again, it has not been starting, it just gives off a click anyone experience this issue, every thing i search comes up with it ceanking but not starting but thats not the case with mine
Yes i even drained the battery to try and replicate the problem and it cranked for a second then clicked, now yesterday my wife was sitting in it and the car powered up itself and it rolled the windows down, could it be a tipm issue?
Possibly could be a TIPM issue, but the typical issue would usually not prevent the starter from spinning the engine. The typical issue would just not power the fuel pump. What year is your Durango? Has the TIPM recall been performed on it?
If the "click" is a single click versus a rapid series of clicks I'd be more inclined to suspect a starter motor assembly issue. The click you're hearing could be the starter solenoid engaging but either the contacts in the solenoid are not passing current to the starter motor or the starter motor brushes are worn and not making reliable contact with the commutator. If the issue were low system voltage from a battery or cable/connection issue, you typically will get a series of clicks. The starter attempts to engage, the current draw drops the system voltage causing the solenoid to disengage. Then the with the current draw removed, the system voltage floats high enough for the solenoid to again engage, and the cycle repeats.

Its a 2012 i pretty sure the racall was done my wife is checking on that today, we had the starter replaced at the dealership about a year and a half ago, it also has a problem with the car shutting off when driving, im not sure if these are all related

Battery cables are good, i have not had it to the dealership yet because they cant get me in for another 2 weeks, i have talked to them previously about it stalling out while driving and was told they cant do anything because no codes eere thrown
Just a click when you hit the button and nothing right? Had the same thing happen to my 2012. It was intermittent for me for a couple of weeks, then on Thanksgiving last year a click and nothing. It is likely your starter. Had mine replaced and it is fine now. I replaced the battery first (said it didn't need it though), so you can try that if you want. I went ahead and left it in there since I had 106K miles on it at the time. Now 112K miles and the only problem I've ever had has been that starter. Great vehicle!
