Recall gone wrong! Please help!
I apologize in advance for the long rant. I brought my 2014 Dodge Durango into the local dealership to have the auto park and cruise control flash updates performed. Two hours into the appointment the service manager informed me that the flash update failed; they had never seen that happen before. They were going to get a regional expert to look at it in the next day or so. They gave me a loaner vehicle, which is great. Two days later, they informed me that the update would not be able to happen and that they would have to replace the ECM module and that said module would take two weeks to arrive.
Like most out there, the Durango is our family vehicle and with a vacation coming up (leaving Sunday) I told them I would just take the Durango back for vacation and bring it back into them afterwards for the ECM swap. At that point they informed me that since some of the modules updated and others didn't, they did not recommend me taking the vehicle off the lot.
I went back and forth with the dealership about other rental vehicles available that could get my family on a camping trip and there are none. So I decided to call Dodge to get some help. Dodge quickly decided that this did not warrant any further investigation on their part and they did not assign a case manager. So here it is, 3 days before I'm supposed to drive my family across the country and I have no way to do so. The dealership doesn't care. Dodge doesn't care. I have reservations at hotels and campsites, spouse and kids to please, etc. Any advice on where I can go with us? Renting a vehicle during the summer is a rich man's game. Most places want upwards of $1500 for the week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
