Acceleration Hesitation Cause
I have my 2018 R/T at the dealership to look at a few issues. One of the things I mentioned is that I experienced some hesitation when accelerating with half-throttle or more. It is not severe but definitely noticeable.
They took it for a drive and this is what I was told:
With traction control on, I am only getting 85% of the Hemi's potential power. The feeling I'm noticing, and apparently they noticed too, is the traction control intervening and changing the distribution of power front to back. I asked if the 5.7L actually had enough power at half throttle from a roll, on dry asphalt, to justify the intervention of traction control. I told told yes, absolutely.
I am scheduled to pick my Durango up tomorrow (8/27). Can someone confirm or deny the information they gave me above?

If the system is rear-biased, then yeah, the hemi could smoke the tires without any trouble at all, so, traction control transfers some power to the front. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.....
Now, if that is actually what is happening.... Couldn't tell ya.
I should think that it wouldn't come across as a 'hesitation', or, a discernible difference in the way it drives, unless it was dialing back engine output, not where the power was going.

I have not had a chance to yet. The dealership still has my vehicle for a separate issue. I should have it back tonight and can put it to the test then.

ETC torque command feature forbids wide open throttle to save rear end, not traction control on DD's LD's and LA's
SRT is an exception due to stronger rear end, but still present although much less noticeable to save tranz output shaft.
