Be careful with 4000-5000 pounds of trailer behind a durango. Ive seen more than a few suv/trailer combos where the tail wagged the dog right of the side of the road.
Should be fine with a Durango which is larger than I have now and it's stable as a rock behind the Ascender which is shorter in length than a durango .
How much maintenance is there on the 4WD version just out of curiosity ? How much is said maintenance on the 4WD ? Right now Im planning on RWD even here in upstate NY . I have survived the last 10 winters in my RWD Ascender without much issue . To me it just seems like another potential break fix issue plus the added weight you lose 1 mpg .

and you lose 300 pounds of tow capacity. AWD probably has a reduced tow capacity vs part time 4wd and 2wd systems.

if your ok in the winter.....only problem with 2wd is when you try to sell it.

Not worried about that , I drive it into the ground .
