Default Mopar

I have the Mopar. Haven't noticed that much of a difference other than I can now hear the throttle body open and close.

ok my experiences with c.a.i's are as follows ....now this is only with diesel,5.9 24valve and the 6.7...

6.7L cummins-----first i used a volant ,,didnt like the powercore filter in my opinion its junk ,,,,hard to clean ,,sucks like azz....sure holds alot of crap though ,,i cut one open after hardcore use in sandy conditions and was full of sand,,,and it found its way through and my down pipe to the turbo was silty inside nfg....

then i went with the trueflow intake system,,,nice concept,,,filter is very easy to clean ,,,but my intake temps were very hot wich in return didnt help the intercooler and various ,,egt's were sky high evan at normal operating conditions ,,,,its just the placement ,,i made a shield and mounted it to the side of it to see if that would help but didnt so scrapped that idea aswell....

so finally went with a s&b system and wow that was the shiot right there,,intake temps were low and egt's were evan lower couldnt have made a better choice,,,,,

as far as i no trueflow is dont wiith the diesels wich is to bad cause it was actually a very good unit just needed better placement.....

24valve cummins----- s&b all the way wont use anything else the best there and the best there ever will be,,

journy--k&n working very well

5.9 gas----so far using k&n drop in...but thinking of going s&b ,,,but if somebody has a k&n system i will gladly try it out and give my honest opinion .....i'll pay whatever and shipping for a good used unit....

now these are all my opinion ....not yours ...lol

im actually thinking of ordering a s&b cone filter and utilizing the stock pipe from the throttle body on the 5.9 gas ,,,,im thinking it will work well and cost 200 less lol

ok i went this way,,lol

i found a K&N 63-1529 in next to new condition for a 100 bux on kijiji,,,wich is a cold air intake system for a 2003 4.7....and utilized my stock horn to throttle body in place of the aftermarket one cause it wouldnt fit cause of the 2 different engines....

and wow what a throttle response now gotta say ,,the best 100 bux i ever spent ,,,now lets see if the mpg get better.....lol

now for a exhaust thinkin of flo-pro just cause there in my back yard basically like 100 kms lolCold air intakes-img00468-20120617-1542.jpg

Saw what everyone else was doing with the DIY variant of the CAI, so went ahead and did one up for myself using Spectre air and oil filter and some PVC tubing. Went to Walmart and picked up some Krylon metallic finish spray paint, and went to town. Here's what I came up with:

A little overzealous with the spray bomb in one or two spots, and may have a bit too much silicone around the IAC. It's version 1.0, and the first one I've ever done, so pretty happy with it all in all. Now I need to fab a bracket to hold it in one place, and a shroud to help funnel the cooler air in and keep the warmer air from the rest of the engine bay.

I have to admit it...I was a little underwhelmed when I first fired her up. I guess I was expecting a much louder and deeper growl right away. But after getting out of my subdivision and opening her up a bit, I REALLY like the sound. I think I see a programmer, some Pacesetter LT's, and a new exhaust system in my future .

Thanks for the tips and motivation guys!

sorry, still figuring it all out. I can drop a gas tank and replace a fuel pump, change out all 16 plugs, service the diffs, and put a new gasket on my exhaust manifold...but I still have a hard time posting pics in a thread.:icon_confused:

Believe me, there not all the same. The kits with metal tubing will naturally have increased air temps. The way to go is poly such as K-N since the poly insulates the air temperature, probably 1000% over metal tubes. The metal ones are nice to look at but aren't giving nearly as cool air as the poly type. No matter how cool the air is coming through the tubes, if the tube is hot on the inside, your performance will be hurt
