check out your glove box... should be a sticker in it telling you what gears you have in your truck.

i have 3.55's in my 05, and looking to upgrade to 4.56. But.. since im very mechanically retarded, anyone know what i should be looking for? or a good place to get gears (possibly from canada?)

I see some richmond gear stuff, but so many options, i have no idea which I would need to get. Some are 200, some kits are 900.... so.. WTH?

anyone shed some light? Id really appreciate it.

2wd or 4wd and are you trying to put a limited slip in the rear?

I've got a 2wd

and no... i dont care to put a limited slip in. Just replace what I have stock with 4.56 gears.

I have a posi rear end right? (sorry.. like i said... mechanically retarded)

If you have 3.55's then it's very unlikely you have a posi/lsd b/c only 3.92's came w/ the anti slip rear. You need to get the gears and a master install kit, I suggest a LSD to aid traction in bad weather. I had some problems w/ a couple motive sets so I don't recommend them. I have yukon gears in my truck and even if you got motive gears it's unlikely you'd have a problem since that is what most guys here have. The gears are pretty much $200 and up, the master install kit is about $100, and labor will run you at least $300. Post a thread in the 3G section to see if anyone knows a good gear shop in your area b/c this isn't a job any mechanic can do. It's a good idea to get the parts from the shop you get the install at so they can't blame any problems on you or the parts, but it may cost you a little more for the parts. Good luck.

If i brake torque (sp?), both wheels spin, and going around corners, my one wheel spins just as fast as my other one, making it always slip a bit. Isnt that posi?

maybe im dumber than I thought
